Meet the people behind Virgin Radio International

Virgin Radio International is led by one of the longest serving and most experienced management teams in global radio. Having joined the Virgin Group in the 1990s, they’ve driven the growth of Virgin Radio International since it first started launching radio stations in Asia in the early 2000s.

Ian Grace, President

With over 30 years’ experience in commercial radio, Ian’s influence over the development of Virgin Radio’s distinctive and highly successful contemporary music-based radio programming has been instrumental in solidifying our status as stations worth listening to.

Ian’s unique approach to programming, which has delivered invaluable market analysis and audience research, the highest standards of production, innovative listener engagement and the hottest new talent, has led us to build market-leading radio stations across the globe, in multiple languages and formats.

Ian has worked for radio stations on five continents, including as program director and later, CEO of Australia’s Triple M radio network. During the 1990s, he was one of the key programming advisers for Virgin Radio UK. In 1993, Ian established his own consulting business and built a global network of clients, principal amongst which was the Virgin Group.

Mark Fisher, Chief Operating Officer

Mark brings almost 20 years of experience in the media industry to our doors. Formerly CFO of Virgin Radio International’s predecessor, Virgin Radio Asia, Mark helped establish the company’s initial operations in Asia.

Passionate about creating commercially successful radio stations that can build and sustain global listening communities, Mark has been particularly responsible for Virgin Radio International’s corporate development, including building long-term partnerships with leading media groups globally. Mark’s other roles for the Virgin Group include being the Corporate Development Director of Virgin Media Group and board director of numerous operating and investment holding companies in several jurisdictions.

Before joining the Virgin Group, Mark worked as a corporate finance consultant for the international strategy and management consulting firm, Arthur D. Little, and in several roles at high levels of government.

Mark has a BA and MA from Oxford University.

Ian and Mark are supported by a top-notch team based across the globe. The team combines exceptional experience in commercial radio, with a deep understanding of the power of the Virgin brand and a rich internationalism. Without this team, details of some of whom are included below, our radio stations wouldn’t be where they are today - all over the world.

Geoff Holland, Group Program Director

Having over 25 years of commercial radio experience in some of the world’s largest markets, Geoff helps make programming run smoothly at our stations in France, Turkey, Lebanon and the UK. Before joining us, he held positions at Triple M in Australia, KROQ in Los Angeles, Virgin Radio UK and MTV.

Jean Claude Torbey, Chief Representative
(Middle East, North Africa and Europe)

Responsible for launching new Virgin Radio stations in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, Jean Claude was formerly the Middle East and North Africa Regional Director for Virgin Megastores, which capacity he launched seven of.

Wayne Mack, Chief Representative

Wayne is responsible for developing opportunities to launch new Virgin Radio stations in the USA. Highly experienced at identifying and managing investments in the media and communication industry, Wayne’s background includes private equity and he serves on numerous media boards in the USA. He is also a qualified lawyer.

Lyndon Yeo, Chief Representative
(East Asia)

Lyndon has over 15 years of experience in the media industry, largely focused on Asian radio. He is responsible for launching new Virgin Radio stations in East Asia and he was formerly Head of Sales and Marketing for the radio operations of Singapore Press Holdings, a media group with interests in print, new media, television and radio.

Barbara Rounds, Representative
(Latin America)

Barbara brings to the team more than 25 years of experience in the Latin American radio industry. Not only does she assist Virgin Radio International in developing opportunities to launch new Virgin Radio stations in Latin America, she is also the CEO of Radio Express, a supplier of entertainment programming to radio stations outside the USA.
